| Περίληψη : | In September 2016, CBS opened its first Urban Data Center in close collaboration with the City of Eindhoven. This was the first in a series of similar Centers which is still expanding, including variants such as a Provincial Data Center and a Rural Data Center. There are two main reasons for establishing these Centers. On the one hand, local government increasingly calls for statistical evidence to support their policy making. On the other hand, a growing number of sensors in public space and other new ‘big data’ sources allow much more detailed statistics than what was possible in the past. CBS combines its expertise with local resources, including higher education institutes and other knowledge partners, to facilitate these developments. The general approach of Urban Data Centers is presented as well as some concrete cases. |
