Περίληψη: In this work, MIPs selective for histamine were synthesized by bulk polymerization using methacrylic acid as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as cross-linker. Binding affinity of imprinted polymers for histamine and structurally related compounds was studied in both organic and aqueous medium. The specific binding sites of imprinted polymer selectively recognize histamine over L-Histidine under aqueous conditions. When polymers were tested against other biogenic amines in aqueous media, MIPs were capable of binding three times more histamine than putrescine. Binding analysis of histamine imprinted polymers with histamine receptor antagonists and compounds related to histamine action was studied as well. In organic media, MIPs selectively recognized histamine over dimentidene, ranitidine and fluoxetine. In aqueous media MIPs bound two times more histamine than ranitidine when 0.3% (v/v) Tween 20 was added. Selectivity of MIPs over structurally and functionally related compounds in aqueous environment makes feasible its potential bioanalytical applications
