Such energetic materials form the core propellant of Solid Rocket Motors and their structural health monitoring is a key issue in the management and maintenance of guided missiles’. Bare and jacketed POF cables were embedded in to the propellants in a longitudinal manner as well as in a closed-loop fiber scheme. The intrinsic elasticity of the POFs and also the macro-bend originated losses under strain provide monitoring capability for strain and stress, higher than 10%, suggesting an efficient tool for real time condition monitoring. %> Αποθετήριο Ήλιος / ΕΙΕ
