Περίληψη:	Pharmaceutical nanotechnology promises to provide solutions to several problems related to the therapy and diagnosis of diseases with the use of nanomedicines based on nanoparticles and nanoassemblies. Polymeric micelles have attracted extensive scientific interest as drug delivery systems since the 1980s, owing to their numerous physicochemical and biological advantages. In this chapter recent advances in the development and utilization of block copolymer micelles and related nanoparticulate systems for selective and targeted drug delivery and diagnosis will be discussed. Several examples from the literature will be used to elucidate the properties and multifunctionality of polymeric micelles in theranostic applications.
